What Do You Want?

article
"A definite purpose, like blinders on a horse, inevitably narrows it's possessor's point of view." - Robert Frost

Brian Tracy, legendary sales trainer, gives puts it this way, "Decide upon your major definite purpose in life and then organize all your activities around it."

Napoleon Hill, author of Think & Grow Rich, warns, "Until a man selects a definite purpose in life, he dissipates his energies & spreads his thoughts over so many subjects and in so many directions that they lead not to power, but to indecision and weakness."

Imagine how difficult it would be to build your dream home without a set of blueprints. If your G.C. somehow managed to get it built without definite direction, would it be the home of your dreams? Would it be your home?

This is exactly what happens in a life without a definite purpose...you live a life not your own.

There is no power, no authority, no respect in living a life you do not direct.

As a master business strategist, with the passion for freedom down deep in my soul, it is extremely difficult for me to imagine somebody else dictating my life for me.

And yet, there is a great danger in the lust of freedom; it is the danger of never tying yourself down to a definite purpose, of always leaving your options open, of being unbound to any blueprint capable of building what you really want. To achieve something great requires one thing: to be bound by the chains of a definite purpose.

When all you want is freedom, freedom is all you'll have.

You do want more than freedom, don't you?

What do you want?

P.S. "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." - Thoreau

P.P.S. Although I've never served in the military, and feel unworthy to speak these words, in honor of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom, we close this article out by reminding ourselves once again, "Freedom is not free."

Do something with the freedom you've been given!
