Money ❤ Speed

MONEY STILL LOVES SPEED!

When it comes to growing your roofing business and increasing your sales in a competitive, constantly changing marketplace, speed is important.

However, if you're the only roofer in a 100 mile radius with a 3-month backlog and a phone that's still ringing with new business, you can probably afford to go slow...until somebody else figures out your market and jumps in to compete with you.

There are some markets where you have to be learning, growing, and changing constantly. Otherwise, you'll be left behind after a season or two.

Roofing has been a very archaic business. Like cutting hair, there hasn't been a lot of speed innovation in the roofing business. The big improvement in hair cuts was the electric clippers. That really sped the business up.

I guess the biggest speed increase in roofing over the last few decades has been the acceptance of nail guns. Very seldom do you hear people ask for hand-nailing these days, but it does happen occasionally. Even though a good hand-nailed roof is a work of art, it is slower and more expensive. Money loves to go fast, not slow.

Even more difficult, finding a crew that wants to hand nail a roof!

SPEED UP EVERYTHING ELSE

Since it's difficult to increase the speed of installation, we have to look for improvements elsewhere.

One of the secrets to staying ahead of your competition is to make speed improvements in all the areas where your competition cannot see (and copy) exactly what you are doing.

You want to speed up your office, speed up your sales team, speed up your paperwork, speed up your decision making with good reporting, speed up your marketing and advertising, and speed up your learning curve because whoever learns how to speed up and does it the fastest has the biggest advantage.
